After a rewarding twenty-year career as a licensed funeral director and embalmer, Sheri noticed the need for a transfer service that delivered an exemplary standard of care to the deceased and bereaved. Recognizing the value and dignity this service would bring to families, she made the transition to Platinum Emergency Services Inc, and is now CEO of the company.
Though originally from Southeast Saskatchewan, Sheri relocated to Alberta. She started her journey in funeral service as an apprentice at Yewchin’s Funeral Chapel in St. Paul. While working full-time in funeral service, Sheri continued her education, obtaining a Management Certificate from SAIT and the designation of CFSP (Certified Funeral Service Practitioner). Sheri currently holds a dual license of funeral directing and embalming in both Alberta and Saskatchewan. As a mom of three children, including twins, Sheri felt called to become a Grief Edu-Therapy Specialist, and spent time providing bereavement support to TTMAC (Twins, Triplets, and More Association of Calgary).
Sheri works tirelessly to deliver a standard of care to the deceased and their loved ones, and with teams throughout both Alberta and Saskatchewan, she ensures those same standards are reflected throughout the company. Her own family has had to adjust to a life that places service above all else, understanding that emergency services are needed at any time of day, any time of year. It’s become a life they are not only familiar with, but feel proud to be part of.
Despite the nature of being an entrepreneur in the field of death care, Sheri is a devoted mom who loves volunteering with Girl Guides with her daughters and watching her son progress in Tae-Kwon-Do. Being a family-oriented leader with extensive experience in the funeral industry is exactly what allows her to guide Platinum as a company that has the knowledge to assist families, and the ability to do so with compassion, empathy and integrity.
Roger grew up in Southeast Alberta on a farm rich with mixed grains and various livestock, and he spent his youth enjoying caring for the animals. While this upbringing gave him a love for agriculture, he eventually set off on his long career in Alberta oil and gas, and earned a Petroleum Engineering Technologist certificate at SAIT. As his career in oil and gas came to a close after many decades of service, Roger was looking for a change of pace and not ready to slow down. While emergency transfers was a different and new direction to him, he saw a way he could contribute to something essential for his community.
Roger holds a certificate of Operations Management from SAIT. With this certification, he oversees training of staff and maintains quality of equipment and vehicles. His responsibilities include learning unique processes in each funeral home or hospital, and ensuring smooth routines and guidelines for new staff to follow. Not just focused on the technical side of operations, Roger takes great care in ensuring the team works cohesively together. He is a problem-solver who is dedicated to providing a standard of care that is echoed throughout Platinum. His motto is “It isn’t about doing something well enough; it’s about doing it right.”
Roger is a devoted husband and father of three. He loves working on home renovations, motorcycles, and cars, and there isn’t much he can’t do because he’s always willing to face a challenge and learn something new. For recreation, he is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys various sports, particularly curling. It’s his ambition and openness to always learning that have made him not only vital to Platinum, but funeral service itself.
Arnie joined Platinum Emergency Services Inc. during its launch into Saskatchewan in the spring of 2018, making him one of Platinum’s foundational team members. Much like a few of his colleagues, Arnie’s upbringing on a rural farm in the province taught him to never back away from hard work or challenges. It’s this very work ethic that has made him a great fit for managing operations in Saskatchewan. Upon completing his B.S.A. at the University of Saskatchewan, he worked his way into professional sales and management with several firms, including a decade with a Fortune 500 Company as a Marketing Associate.
As the Operations Manager for Saskatchewan, Arnie’s goal is to build strong relationships with our clients and the families we help, and to maintain the professionalism of our industry. He is responsible for procedure and vehicle maintenance, as well as training staff and ensuring a smooth working relationship among the team. He regularly holds training sessions that are not only instructive, but also morale-boosting. Arnie is happily married with two children and spends a lot of his free time outdoors; he is always ready for a good night around the bonfire with friends. He injects compassion and heart into everything he does, and it shows in his strength as a leader. Arnie has been instrumental in Platinum Emergency Services business growth in Saskatchewan.
Lee was raised by a family of paramedics and emergency responders in New York, and knew from a young age that funeral service was right for her. She saw firsthand the commitment it takes to be readily available in a crisis, and how to care for her community. This unique upbringing laid the foundation for her career in funeral service, and she started her journey in Vancouver, BC as a transfer specialist. She has performed various functions in the funeral home, and is currently seeking her embalming license with Platinum Emergency Services Inc.
While funeral service has always been a dream of hers, she started writing at a very young age. She studied communications and journalism at SFU, and has spent over fifteen years as a freelance journalist for publications such as Huffington Post Canada, Vancouver Sun, Postpartum Progress, and more. She writes with honesty and passion with the goal of helping her readers feel less alone. This translates to her life in funeral service, where families will always come first.
As Communications Manager for Platinum, Lee is responsible for website development and maintenance, social media management, and building relationships with existing and new clients. She also trains new staff on transfers and is one of Platinum’s main dispatchers. She is a mother of two, and spends her free time rock climbing and tending to her many houseplants. Lee feels deeply fortunate to be able to combine her love of writing with her passion for funeral service, and will always put community first.
